At Top of the Monk our philosophy is simple, centered around presenting you with the best quality cocktails, served by our knowledgeable and friendly staff in an atmosphere that is both sophisticated, and relaxing. We take pride in serving the finest classic cocktails, and in continually honing and learning our craft in order to give you the best experience and drinks possible. Take a sip, sit back, and enjoy views of the mountains from our rooftop patio. Find yourself a comfortable seat at the bar to watch our Mixologists at work, or seek out a quiet corner to simply enjoy every bit of your libation.

In order for you, and all of our valued guests to most thoroughly enjoy your time at Top of the Monk, we have a few in-house policies:

  • No parties of 7 or more people after 7pm on Friday and Saturday.
  • Leave the party accessories at the door – we’d be glad to look after your sashes, feather boas, noisemakers, etc. at the door while you enjoy a relaxed drink upstairs, and you can pick them up on your way out.
  • No hootin n’ hollerin! We like to keep things low key so everyone can enjoy their conversations.

Cocktail List

Egg Nog
  • Can you actually go through the holidays with out at least one? Our vanilla and maple filled version is hand whipped to order.
  • Bourbon, Brandy, Egg, Whole Cream, Maple, Madagascar Vanilla, Shaved Nutmeg. Served Up.
Corn 'n' Oil
  • Although the origins of this smoky drink from Barbados are unknown, the rich, deep flavor of the rum, with swirling molasses and coffee notes, link up with the spicy and sweet falernum to make cocktail magic.
  • Cruzan Single Barrel Blackstrap, House Cured Falernum, Coffee Saturated Demerara, Fresh Lime, Angostura. Served over Crushed Ice.
Warm Winter Wassail
  • This traditonal hot mulled wine and apple cider punch has aways been shared with neighbors, celebrated with carols, and is basically a Holiday in a cup.
  • Aged Rum, Local Cider, Fresh Citrus, and Mulled Wine Stewed with Winter Spices. Served Warm.
Gingerbread Old Fashioned
  • We are not typically the kind of folks who like to mix our cookies and whiskey, but the savory flavors of ginger & molasses work out well in this one.
  • Four Roses Small Batch Bourbon, Brown Sugar Saturated with Gingerbread Spices, Orange Bitters & Orange Peel. Served on Ice.
Jessica Rabbit
  • The North Carolina Sweet Potato Commission asked us to make a cocktail for them, and we boldly answered, "Yes!"
  • Vodka, Cold Pressed Sweet Potato & Carrots, Fresh Lemon, Agave Sage Syrup, Marjoram Tincture Oil. Served Up.
The Isaacson
  • This piquantly pleasant version of a cold weather sour celebrates the sweet and savory flavor of ripe figs.
  • Calvados Brandy, Honeyed Fig Syrup, Fresh Lemon, Mendoza Malbec, Salted Olive Oil, Egg White. Served Up.
The Billionaire
  • Want to feel like a million bucks, and then some? Feeling luxurious or just want to treat yourself? This is the drink for you! A foundation of Small Batch Bourbon is caressed by pomegranate Grenadine spiced with cloves and cardamom. The addition of Absinthe Bitters wakes the palate for one complex cocktail.
  • Baker's 107 Prf Small Batch Bourbon, Fresh Lemon, House Spiced Grenadine, Absinthe Bitters. Served Up.
Leontine
  • This drink purrs like a cat, and is as smooth as a new felt hat. Try it and come up with some bubbly metaphors of your own.
  • Aperol, Fresh Grapefruit, Dubonnet, Sparkling Wine. Served Up.
The Black Mariah
  • A much darker kind of lady, this slightly sweet, slightly tart, and very potent libation is anything but scary.
  • Maker's Mark, Framboise, Blackberry Brandy, House Lemon Cordial, Lightly Fermented Blackberry & Pomegranate Shrub. Served Carbonated on Ice.
The Perfect Umami Negroni
  • If Alice had Negronis at a mad tea party, surely they would feature a salty vermouth flash infused with mushrooms for a magic savory finish.
  • Sutler's NC Gin, A Duo of Vermouths Rapid Infused with Foraged Mushrooms, Bitter Campari. Served Up.
