At Top of the Monk our philosophy is simple, centered around presenting you with quality cocktails and Asheville’s premier whiskey collection, served by our knowledgeable and friendly staff in an atmosphere that is both sophisticated, and relaxing. We take pride in serving the finest classic and modern cocktails. Take a sip, sit back, and enjoy views of the mountains from our rooftop patio. Find yourself a comfortable seat at the bar to watch our Mixologists at work, or seek out a quiet corner to simply enjoy every bit of your libation.

In order for you, and all of our valued guests to most thoroughly enjoy your time at Top of the Monk, we have a few in-house policies:

    • No parties of 7 or more people after 7pm on Friday and Saturday.
    • Leave the party accessories at the door – we’d be glad to look after your sashes, feather boas, noisemakers, etc. at the door while you enjoy a relaxed drink upstairs, and you can pick them up on your way out.
  • No hootin n’ hollerin! We like to keep things low key so everyone can enjoy their conversations.

Cocktail List

Fish House Punch
  • A note from 1744 contains what may be the earliest record of the Punch, described being "A bowl of fine Lemon Punch big enough to have swimmed half a dozen of young geese."
  • Aged Special Rum, Cognac, Apricot Brandy, 3 Month Cured Swedish Punsch with Darjeeling Tea, Fresh Lemon, Cane Sugar, Grated Nutmeg. Served on Ice.
The Chauncey
  • Originally published in the Old Waldorf-Astoria Bar Book in 1935, this curious little tipple is like an intersection of spirit genres, and this intersection yields no accidents!
  • Bourbon, V.S. Cognac, Straight Gin, Sweet Vermouth, Reagan's #6 Bitters. Served Up.
Airmail
  • This classic variation on a French 75, is the quickest most refreshing way to get from Point A to Point Buzzed.
  • Aged Rum, Fresh Lime, Tiki-Spiced Honey, Sparkling Wine, Angostura. Served Up.
The Late Shift
  • Slightly spicy rye is caressed by the rich, fruity flavors of red wine and blackcurrant like a velvet whisper, brightened by the touch of freshly squeezed citrus.
  • Redemption Rye, Pinot Noir Cordial, Blackcurrant, Lemon, Caraway & Strawberry Bitters. Served Up.
Summer In Your Mouth
  • It's everything you want, but we're hoping for a little bit more...
  • Vokda, Cracked & Whipped Coconut, Fresh Orange & Lime, Cinnamon Turbinado Syrup, Candied Mango, Hawaiian Sea Salt, Toasted Coconut. Served on Ice.
Lemon & Tarragon Flip
  • It's a beer cocktail! It is also sunshine in a pretty cup. Rich, decadent, whipped to perfection and practically dessert.
  • Malfy Gin, Orange Cordial, Lemon Curd, Tarragon Gum Syrup, Fresh Citrus, Saline, Egg, Topped with Thirsty Monk Abby Blonde. Served Up.
Booker's Notion
  • Be careful with this one. Very careful. It'll swing you like a jazz band but won't leave you 'til the morning.
  • Booker's 126 Proof, Ramazzotti Amaro, Smashed Lemon & Mandarin Oranges, Brined Cherries, Blood Orange Caramel. Served on Ice.
Josephine Baker
  • Ernest Hemingway called her "the most sensational woman anyone ever saw." Bold, deep, sharp, exotic, playful, and perhaps a little bit dangerous, we hope this seriously strong botanical sipper lives up to it's fantastic leading lady.
  • Sutler's NC Gin, House Cherry Brine, Punt e Mes Vermouth, Angostura Bitters, Orange Oil Bitters, Yellow Chartreuse Float. Served on Ice.
Tomorrow Becomes Today
  • This delicious high octane version of a margarita goes down so easily that your days may just meld together.
  • Conmemorativo Reposado, Del Maguey Mezcal, Creme de Cassis, Orange Curaçao, Tamarind Soaked Agave, Cold Pressed Ginger, Citrus, Powdered Grapefruit Rim. Served on Ice.
Grab a Pear
  • A little sweet and a little naughty, our version of a traditional Pear Cobbler features one of the world's most popular spirits.
  • Leblon Cachaça, Aperol, Muddled Pear, House Spiced Grenadine, Fresh Lemon. Served on Cracked Ice.
