At Top of the Monk our philosophy is simple, centered around presenting you with quality cocktails and Asheville’s premier whiskey collection, served by our knowledgeable and friendly staff in an atmosphere that is both sophisticated, and relaxing. We take pride in serving the finest classic and modern cocktails. Take a sip, sit back, and enjoy views of the mountains from our rooftop patio. Find yourself a comfortable seat at the bar to watch our Mixologists at work, or seek out a quiet corner to simply enjoy every bit of your libation.

In order for you, and all of our valued guests to most thoroughly enjoy your time at Top of the Monk, we have a few in-house policies:

    • No parties of 7 or more people after 7pm on Friday and Saturday.
    • Leave the party accessories at the door – we’d be glad to look after your sashes, feather boas, noisemakers, etc. at the door while you enjoy a relaxed drink upstairs, and you can pick them up on your way out.
  • No hootin n’ hollerin! We like to keep things low key so everyone can enjoy their conversations.

Cocktail List

Egg Nog
  • Can you actually go through the holidays without at least one? Our vanilla and maple filled version is light and hand-whipped to order.
  • Bourbon, Brandy, Egg, Whole Cream, Maple, Madagascar Vanilla, Shaved Nutmeg. Served Up.
Warm Winter Wassail
  • This traditional hot mulled wine and apple cider punch is the Holidays in a cup, shared with neighbors, and celebrated with carols.
  • Aged Rum, Local Cider, Fresh Citrus, and Mulled Wine Stewed with Winter Spices. Served Warm.
Punch Romaine
  • We don't know if it was an appetizer or dessert but this regal cocktail, designed for the super posh by famed French chef Georges Escoffier, was served as violins played on the Titanic.
  • White Rum, Crisp White Wine, Fresh Lemon & Orange, Cane Sugar, Egg White. Sparkling Wine Float. Served on Cracked Ice.
Old Flame
  • The bright flavor and bitter finish of this citrus filled cocktail might be just the ticket to rekindle old sparks, or perhaps fuel a new one.
  • Sutlers NC Gin, Sweet Vermouth, Campari, Solerno Blood Orange Liquor, Fresh Orange. Served Up.
Grandpaw's Wild Cherry Phosphate
  • This soda shop classic is sure to tickle your sour palate. While wild cherry bark has been long claimed to have medicinal properties, this is the drink pop would have made with a wink.
  • Double Oaked Bourbon, White Dog Whiskey, Wild Cherry Bark Syrup, Citrus, Acid Phosphate, Carbonated Water. Served on Ice.
The Billionaire
  • Want to feel like a million bucks, and then some? Feeling luxurious or just want to treat yourself? This is the drink for you! Aged Small Batch Bourbon is caressed by pomegranate Grenadine spiced with cloves and cardamom. The addition of Absinthe Bitters wakes the palate for one complex cocktail.
  • Baker's 107 Prf Small Batch Bourbon, Fresh Lemon, House Spiced Grenadine, Absinthe Bitters. Served Up.
Gingerbread Old Fashioned
  • We are not typically the kind of folks who like to mix our cookies and whiskey, but the bittersweet flavors of ginger & molasses work out well in this one.
  • Four Roses Small Batch Bourbon, Brown Sugar Slow Cooked with Gingerbread Spices, Molasses, Orange Bitters & Orange Peel. Served on Ice.
Cranberry Caipirinha
  • The mojito's exotic Brazilian cousin, the caipirinha features Cachaça, the world’s fourth-most-produced spirit. This seasonal twist features the tart addition of cranberries.
  • Leblon Cachaça, Cold Macerated Cranberries, Raw Turbinado, Muddled Limes. Served on ice.
Turkey & The Trimmin's
  • This festive manhattan is an ideal start for a night on the town or a day spent recovering in an armchair. All that's missing is the stuffing.
  • Wild Turkey Rye, Antica Vermouth Saturated in Cranberries, Rich Maple, Aromatic Bitters, Sage Oil. Served Up.
Black Walnut Daiquiri
  • Some bitters here, some roasted walnuts there, some delicious aged rum, and some house cured liqueur make this one of our bestsellers!
  • Aged Jamaican and Nicaraguan Rums, Cured Nonino, Fresh Lime, Cinnamon, Cane Sugar, Black Walnut Bitters. Served Up.
