At Top of the Monk our philosophy is simple, centered around presenting you with quality cocktails and Asheville’s premier whiskey collection, served by our knowledgeable and friendly staff in an atmosphere that is both sophisticated, and relaxing. We take pride in serving the finest classic and modern cocktails. Take a sip, sit back, and enjoy views of the mountains from our rooftop patio. Find yourself a comfortable seat at the bar to watch our Mixologists at work, or seek out a quiet corner to simply enjoy every bit of your libation.

In order for you, and all of our valued guests to most thoroughly enjoy your time at Top of the Monk, we have a few in-house policies:

    • No parties of 7 or more people after 7pm on Friday and Saturday.
    • Leave the party accessories at the door – we’d be glad to look after your sashes, feather boas, noisemakers, etc. at the door while you enjoy a relaxed drink upstairs, and you can pick them up on your way out.
  • No hootin n’ hollerin! We like to keep things low key so everyone can enjoy their conversations.

Cocktail List

Honey Hush
  • Don't say a word, just part your lips and take a sip of this slightly savory nectar that's sure to be the bee's knees.
  • Double Oaked Bourbon, Orange Liqueur, Cocchi Vermouth di Torino, Clover Honey, Muddled Orange Slice and House Brandied Cherry. Served On Ice.
Mai-Tai
  • One of the most perverted cocktails out there, except not in the fun way, Trader Vic originally created this delicate drink in the 1930's to highlight his favorite aged liquor, not to smother it.
  • El Dorado 12 Yr, Appleton V/S, Cointreau, House Almond Orgeat, Fresh Lime. Served on Crushed Ice.
Rum Runner
  • Originally named after Pirates and bootleggers, this classic Key West favorite is not your standard party punch. A little sweet, fresh, fruity and very dangerous.
  • Spiced Rum, Dry Rum, House Made Banana Cordial, Blackberry Brandy, Fresh Juice Punch, Spiced Grenadine. Served on Ice.
Blue Hawaiian
  • If Elvis decided he wanted a pool side Piña Colada, this would be the electric coconut treat he would reach for.
  • Dry White Rum, Blue Curaçao, Coconut Milk, Fresh Pineapple, Lemon Grass Syrup, Coconut Foam.
Twentieth Century
  • First published in the Cafe Royal Bar Book in 1937. With this cocktail we now believe we have a firm idea of what Art Deco tastes like.
  • Plymouth Dry Gin, Lillet Blanc, Tempus Fugit Crème de Cacao, Fresh Lemon, Bitter Chocolate. Served Up.
La Vie En Rosemary
  • The perfect velvety mix for a view of life through rose colored glasses, there's nothing you can't love about this herbal & citrus based fizz. *Note: All fizzes require extra preparation time.
  • Sutlers NC Gin, House Orange Cordial, Agave Saturated with Rosemary, Rose & Orange Blossom Water, Fresh Lemon, Cream, Egg White, Carbonation. Served Up.
Bolt and Screw It
  • Fresh, a slightly bitter, and full of booze, why just tie one on, when you can bolt and screw it?
  • Aged Rum, Cachaça, Campari, Citrus Melange, Fresh Pineapple, Tiki Spiced Mango Syrup, Peychaud's Bitters. Served over Ice.
Improved Oaxacan Old Fashioned
  • This old school twist on a new school favorite is paired with our house "Monkey Bitters", designed to compliment the smokey flavors of Mescal and spicy notes of Tequila.
  • Conmemorativo Reposado, Del Maguey Mescal, Agave Nector, Luxardo Maraschino, Plum and Plantain Bitters, Absinthe Rinse. Served on Ice.
S.A.S. The Swedish Angostura Swizzle
  • "Who Dares Wins" is the motto of an even more dangerous SAS. With a touch of Darjeeling and plenty of rum. Try this well balanced tart, sweet, and spiced tiki treat if you dare!
  • Smith & Cross Over Proof Rum, Tiki Spiced Swedish Punsch Cured for Weeks with Darjeeling Tea, Fresh Lemon, Angostura Bitters, Cold Pressed Ginger Beer. Served on Ice.
Super Drunk Uncle
  • A cocktail inspired by the person you can't help but love, this bubbly Whisky cooler layers flavors and is topped off with beer from our own brewery. Served on Ice.
  • Single Malt Scotch, Drambuie, Fresh Lemon, Dry Orange Curaçao, Orange Bitters, Topped with Thirsty Monk IPA. Served on Ice.
